If you've been looking at Maine Coon kittens for sale, you've probably noticed how different breeders can be. Some have kittens ready every week. We don't. We have a few litters a year, and each one is raised in our living room, not in a barn or a back room.

Maine Coon Kittens Cattery is run by John Ortiz from our home in Ontario, Canada. Our breeding cats live with us as pets first. We plan each litter around the parents' health and temperament, and we don't breed a female more often than her body can handle.
Moms have their litters in a quiet nursery room. At around four weeks the kittens start exploring the rest of the house, and by eight weeks they're climbing cat trees, using the litter box and following us into the kitchen.
Photos and videos while your kitten grows, honest answers when you ask something, and a take-home folder with feeding notes and vet records on pickup day.
What Maine Coon cats are like to live with, in plain terms.

Maine Coons are social without being demanding. Most want to be near you rather than on you, and many will meet you at the door. They chirp and trill more than they meow. They're usually patient with children and get along with dogs that are calm around cats.
Look for tufted ears, a thick ruff around the neck, big snowshoe paws and a long, bushy tail. Don't expect a full-size cat at one year. Maine Coons keep growing and filling out until they're three to five.
The coat is long but doesn't mat as easily as a Persian's. For most cats, a brush two or three times a week is enough. Pay attention behind the ears, under the front legs and the fluffy fur on the back legs.
With good care, Maine Coons commonly live 12 to 15 years. Give them a big litter box, a cat tree that won't tip under a 15-pound cat, and some play every day. They're smart and get bored easily.
Healthy Maine Coon kittens start with healthy parents. Maine Coons are generally sturdy cats, but the breed has a few inherited conditions you should know about: hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a heart disease; spinal muscular atrophy (SMA); and hip dysplasia. Before you buy from any Maine Coon breeder, including us, ask what the parents were tested for and ask to see the results.
Start your kitten in one room with food, water, a litter box and somewhere to hide. Open up the rest of the house over a few days. Don't change food right away, and book a check-up with your vet in the first week so they can plan the rest of the vaccinations.
